Sand substrate?

Post by DHemby » Sun May 11, 2008 9:49 pm

I just switched over to sand instead of gravel in the aquatic parts of my tanks for all of my grandis. Should i have not done that? I did not think to ask here first. They seem to love it so far.

I think it's a good idea to use sand. I'm not a big fan of gravel.
I started using sand last year. It helps break down organic waste and the water in my tanks is much clearer now. :D

I am also using bamboo plants to help with the fecal matter, if you wedge them in some rocks they cant move em and they have a hard time eating them up too.
