'Jackson-ratio' for H.grandis

Post by Marnix Hoekstra » Wed Apr 12, 2006 1:58 am

Hi all,

I want to make a graph of the average weight/size ratio for Giant Asian pond turtles, similar to the Jackson-ratio for Testudo hermanni & T. graeca.
Please take a minute to measure your grandises and email the results offlist to me.

Specify for every individual:
- straight carapace length
(measured like this: http://www.slowcoach.org.uk/care/jackson/jackson1.gif )
- weight
- whether it is healthy
- its age (if you know)
And specify what units you are working with (cm/inches, kg/lbs/ounces etc.)

If I receive enough data I will make graphs & formulas and share them with the group.

Thanks,
Marnix Hoekstra

'Jackson-ratio' for H.grandis

Hi all,

I have done the calculations for the Jackson-ratio of H.grandis. The results are here: http://www.heosemys.org/Jackson.php
With the ratios & tables you can compare the weight of your grandises with the average and high & low values. These values are only statistical - I'm open to suggestions as to what the optimal weight ratios might be.

More data are still welcome and needed! If I receive more, I will adjust the values.

Regards,
