upgrading the forum

Post by Marnix Hoekstra » Fri Jan 11, 2008 10:33 pm

Hi all,

I have finished upgrading the forum from phpBB 2.0.22 to phpBB 3.0. At least everything is functional, and the documentation pages are back online.
There is more to be done, but tomorrow is another day. It's 21:30 on a Friday night, I'm off home...

Marnix

Okay, another day of editing and updating. The documentation pages have been reintegrated into the forum framework. All internal links are in place. The next project is the overall layout. Your feedback is always welcome.

The forum software has been upgraded to 3.0.2, which caused several problems. But everything is okay now.

You have taken my advice on the header. It looks pretty neat.

It has taken two hours but the software upgrade to version 3.0.3 is successful. :)
New features include advanced management of private messages.

And another update: 3.0.4. No significant changes, just bug fixes. :)

Upgrading to 3.0.6 took almost two hours, but it's working
I will fix a few more things tomorrow.

Upgraded to phpBB 3.0.8 'Patience is a virtue' in an hour.
Due to the utf-8 based handling of passwords in phpBB3, it is not always possible to transfer all passwords. For passwords "lost in translation" the easiest workaround is to use the "forgotten password" function.

I was informed that the GD Captcha on the registration page is set so complex it's almost impossible to read. This may well have prevented people from signing up. The settings have been changed so it's easier now.
